In Patient Care
In Patient care meets three primary needs...
- Symptom management: Short term stays (usually 3 - 5 days) for review of patient's symptoms such as pain, nausea and vomiting.
- Respite care: Available for short periods of time primarily to allow time out for carers and family members. Generally for a week and is arranged in consultation with the patient and family/whanau.
- End of life care: If care at home is no longer possible or no longer preferred.
Te Rangimarie in New Plymouth has 7 beds with ensuites available, as well as family facilities. The Hawera Hospital provides access to 2 beds.
Te Rangimarie is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and community patients can call at any time for advice and support. There are seven comfortable and private bedrooms with their own ensuites and access to our garden.
The length of stay is decided on an individual basis with most patients returning to their own home. Te Rangimarie and the Hawera Hospital beds do not provide long-term care.
Family and friends are welcome to use all the facilities and close family are able to stay overnight in our family suite. To view the Te Rangimarie Hospice House Guidelines, please click here.
